A 24 hour curfew has been imposed on Kafanchan town in Southern Kaduna as protests took over the whole town due to persistent violence in the area.
The curfew which was imposed by the chairman of Jema’a local government area in state, Dr Bege Katuka was to forestall a breakdown of law and order in the area.
Southern Kaduna had over time witnessed persistent killings with the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, recently revealing that he paid some Fulani herdsmen to forestall peace, a disclosure that resulted in heavy criticisms.
Kafanchan, the commercial nerve-centre of southern Kaduna, is the headquarters of Jema’a local government area.
The report says that hundreds of youths, women and children took to the streets in the morning of Monday, 19 December, 2016 to protest the continued attacks and killing of residents by suspected herdsmen
