- Osinbajo reverts back to acting President
The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has on Sunday evening received the 82 rescued Chibok girls at his official residence in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
This is coming as the news about his planned medical vacation to London was confirmed by his Media aide, Segun Adesina. Freedom of 82 Chibok girls, proves Buhari is active… -Shettima
Adesina in his Twitter account said: “PM travels tonight for medical follow-up. The length of his stay will be determined by the Doctor”.
The girls were conveyed to the President’s resident around 7.00pm in a two white-coloured Nigerian Army buses with curtain covered window.
State House correspondents who had gathered round the President’s residence gate where unable to see the the faces of the girls, led by the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan.
The girls were shielded from the journalists that have gathered at the entrance and the newsmen were also not allowed to enter the venue.
The only Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Cameraman and the President’s Personal Photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo were allowed into the residence.
Some foreign journalists were however accredited to cover the Presidential reception for the Chibok girls.
Service Chiefs and many top government officials were also at the meeting.
This is the first time any of the rescued girls captured from their school in Chibok, Borno State in the year 2014, will be received by the President or Vice President behind closed doors.FREED! 82 Chibok girls released in exchange for Boko Haram prisoners-FG
The 82 girls, are among the over 200 girls captured by the terrorist sect, Boko Haram three years ago, in their school at Chibok.
The girls were said to have been swapped with some Boko Haram suspects, in custody of the government.
Last October, 21 Chibok girls were also released after similar negotiations with the sect.
The 82 Chibok were first taken to a facility in the Department of State Security (DSS), where they under went series of medical checkup in Abuja, before meeting the President.
The girls were earlier in the day received by the Chief of Staff to the president, Abba Kyari, when they arrived in Abuja from Maiduguri in military choppers.HURIWA calls for full, independent investigation into Chibok girls’ abduction
Kyari told Channels TV that the president is “extremely pleased and glad” over their release.
“Since the first set of girls were released last year, he gave instructions to all security agencies to leave no stone unturned until all the girls are released,” he said.

Adesina in statement issued as a fellow up to his earlier tweets, said the president had planned to leave Sunday afternoon, but decided to tarry a bit, due to the arrival of 82 Chibok girls who arrived Abuja earlier on Sunday.
