The Minister of Defence, Brig-Gen. Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali (rtd), has congratulated the 378 newly promoted seniors officers from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
The senior officers promotion to various ranks were approved by the Army, Navy and the Airforce councils respectively.
Dan-Ali in a statement signed by his Public Relations Officer, Col. Tukur Gusau on Sunday, advised the officers to consider their promotion to a higher rank as a trust and confidence bestowed on them by their respective services and the nation.
“Therefore, instead of indulging in merry making they should use the period to reflect on how their new ranks and additional responsibilities will contribute positively to the current security challenges and the overall development of the nations armed forces and the country in general,” he said.
The NAF was the first to announce the promotion of 14 new Air Vice Marshals (AVMs), 19 Air Commodores and 45 Group Captains.
This was followed by Nigerian Army Council which approved the promotion of 227 senior officers including 21 Major-Generals, 93, Brigadier Generals and 113 Lieutenant Colonels.
The Nigerian Navy also reciprocated and approved the promotion of 73 senior officers to various higher ranks comprising of 15 new Rear Admirals, 39 Commodores and 19 Captains.
