•3 soldiers killed, 5 wounded
The troops of 25 Task Force Brigade, 7 Division Nigerian Army on Operation Lafiya Dole has recovered truckload of guns, arms and ammunitons from the fleeing terrorists in parts of Borno State, North East of Nigeria.
The troops also killed about 41 fleeing terrorists but lost three soldiers with five wounded in the ensued gun battle on Wednesday.
The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Brg-Gen. Sani Usman, stated that during clearance operation at Dulsa and Buk, Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, the troops had an encounter with fleeing Boko Haram terrorists in which they recovered vehicles, arms and ammunition.
Usman also stated that the troops at Dulsa Wednesday morning, t cleared the hideout of the terrorists during which they neutralized six Boko Haram terrorists, recovered a Light Machine Gun, two Rocket Propelled Grenade Tubes and Extra Anti-Aircraft Gun Barrel.
He said the troops also encountered Boko Haram terrorists camp at Buk where they were engaged by the terrorists.
He said: “During the encounter, the troops neutralized 35 of the Boko Haram terrorists and wounded several others. They also made an unprecedented recovery.
“The items recovered include nine AK-47 rifles, three Fabrique Nationale rifles, two Rocket Propelled Grenade Bombs, Mortar Tube, Shilka, Gun truck mounted with Anti-Aircraft Gun and two Hilux vehicles.
Unfortunately he said, three soldiers paid the supreme price, while five others were wounded in action. Similarly, he said that Mine-Resistant, Ambush-Protected vehicle belonging to the Brigade was badly damaged.
Usman sais that the bodies of the late soldiers and those that sustained injuries have since been evacuated.
He also noted that the wounded soldiers are in stable condition.
