The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has directed the intelligence, Anti-Fraud and ACTU units of the Corps to restrategise and redouble their intelligence network in clamping down on employment racketeers.
Muhammadu in a statement on Wednesday signed by the Public Relations Officer, NSCDC, Emmanuel Okeh, said the action is in response to the incessant online recruitment portal by fraudsters, to defraud desperate job seekers.
According to him, “this was necessitated by the proliferation of the social media platform where desperate applicants are deceived into filing forms online and some were made to pay money”.
The Civil Defence boss cautioned that the employment website, www.nscdc.gov.ng among others are fake.
Therefore, he is advising applicants to be wary of devices of “419ers” (Fraudsters) alerting them of recruitment and underground replacement exercise of 10,000 as stated by them .
The Commandant General warned that the Corps will no longer condone any advert made on its behalf via the social media platform to defraud applicants, therefore, modalities have been put in place to clamp down on all those using the social media platform for fraudulent activities.
Muhammadu also called on all those who chooses to patronise the online platform for the purported recruitment to desist henceforth, as the Corps recruitment pattern is neither through social media nor through any consultant.
He however, assured that at the appropriate time, the Corps will advertise for recruitment through reputable electronic and print media when the approval is given.
