Melaye alleges fresh corruption cases in PPMC, NNPC

The Senator representing (Kogi West), Dino Melaye, has raised fresh allegation of monumental corruption against the Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC) and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Melaye who on Tuesday, draw his inspiration through order 42 of the Senate standing rule said despite the fight against corruption by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, some Nigerians have continue to defraud the country.

He said some cargoes of petroleum products which are deposited in private tanks farm due to inadequate of government own tank farms to accommodate the products are diverted by officials of PPMC in collaboration with the some staff of the private tanks farm. “Due to inadequate of government owned tank farms, some imported PMS and AGOs are deposited in private tank farms and it will disappear without any trace” Melaye said.

The Senator further alleged that between 2006 and 2015, NNPC collected N5.1 trillion as subsidy payment and the payment have not been investigated. “The time to investigate subsidy payment made to NNPC is now” he said.

He pleaded that the lawmakers should allow him to bring a substantive motion on the issues on Wednesday. When it was put into voting it was unanimously agree by the Senators that Melaye sponsor a substantive motion on the matter.

In his reaction the Senate President Bukola Saraki said the motion will assist in the fight against corruption and effort to reposition the NNPC. “NNPC is a great source of revenue for all Nigerians, we would wait for the motion tomorrow” Saraki said
