- Confessed to have killed 150 people
The Nigerian Police had arrested a wanted Boko Haram terrorist kingpin with serial number 176, in Bauchi state in North East of the country.
The Commission of Police, Bauchi State Command, Garba Baba Umar, announced the breakthrough in a statement on Wednesday, saying the suspect confessed to have butchered over 150 people.
Umar said that April 12, 2017 at about 1700hrs, following intelligence report and painstaking surveillance, detectives attached to the Command arrested one Muhammad Adamu Nafiu male, aged 25yrs of Balanga in Gombe State at Tama village in Toro LGA of Bauchi State.
He said: “Suspect is a notorious member of Boko Haram who relocated to Tama village in order to evade arrest after they were dislodged by troops at Sambisa Forest.
“Preliminary investigation also revealed that suspect was among those declared by the Nigerian Army on Serial Number 176 on its wanted list.”
He also said that the suspect “has voluntarily confessed to have killed over 150 people in Baga LGA of Borno State. Case under investigation after which suspect would be handed over to the appropriate authority for discreet investigation please.”
In another development, Umar stated that the Police has arrested notorious political thug in Bauchi state capital, popularly referred to as Sara-Suka in northern part of the country
He stated: ” On the 14/4/ 2017 at about 18:00hrs, the Command in collaboration with Military arrested one Osama Abubakar male, aged 20yrs of Malam Goje Street of Bauchi.
“Suspect use a sharp knife and cult off the left hand of one Abdul-aziz Mohd male, aged 23yrs of Gombe Road Bauchi who is also alleged to be a Sara-Suka member.”
He listed the exhibits recovered from the suspect to include two Sharp knives used in perpetrating the act.
The Police Commissioner said that preliminary investigation revealed that suspect is a notorious Sara-Suka thug who was convicted for similar offence in 2016.
According to him, the suspect willingly confessed and is assisting the police with useful information that will assist in apprehending his accomplices.
“The command also arrested one Suleiman Umar male, aged 19yrs, suspect used sharp knives and inflicted deep cut on the right hand of one Salisu Harisu Hussaini male, aged 25yrs of Gwabba ward in Bauchi.
“Exhibit recovered includes one blood stained knife in his possession. Suspect was charged to for prosecution,” he stated.
In a related development, Umar said the Police also nabbed suspected cult members and recovered offensive weapons from them.
He narrated that on April 9, 2017 at about 2300hrs, police detectives attached to Yelwa Division arrested the syndicated including: Ibrahim Ahmed male, aged 18yrs of Birshi Village Yelwa; Usman Yunusa male, aged 15yrs of the same address; and Emmanuel Ayuba male, aged 22yrs of Yelwa Tsakani
He listed the exhibits recovered to include: one sharp knife and white regalia with inscription “Young Money” suspected to be used by cultist.

He also disclosed that “so far the command has arrested over 200 suspected thugs recovered offensive weapons and charged them to Court for prosecutions.”
