The Nigerian Army and their Police counterpart has agreed to synergise efforts, intelligence and resources in the fight against crime in Akwa-Ibom state, South South of the country.
The Force Public Relations Officer in the State, DSP Chukwu Ikechukwu, in a statement on Thursday, said this was agreed when Commander 2 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ibrahim Abdu Hassan l, paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State Command CP Don Awunah, on Tuesday.
He said Hassan pledged the readiness of the Brigade to collaborate with the Police in the fight against Crime and Criminality in the state.
On his part, Awunah stated that the hallmark of internal security is inter-agency collaboration.
He further assured the Brigadier General that as a lead agency in internal security, the Police will always partner with Nigerian Army to achieve national growth in the area of law Enforcement and Crime prevention.
Awunah further assured the members of the Public that the command has put in place a well intelligent team and also activated all the tactical teams in effort to reduce crime in the state.
He therefore, implored law abiding citizens to co-operate with the Police and provide necessary information.
It is important to emphasis that crime prevention and control is a collective responsibility.
