- Attends Free Medical Outreach in Abia
The former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, has commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army to sustain end enforce security across the country, especially through its civil-military projects.
Ihejirika stated this on Tuesday in response to the programme of Exercise Egwu Eke II (Python Dance II), led by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army, Major-Gen. AB Abubakar in line with the incumbent COAS, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai directive.
Abubakar flagged off an elaborate medical outreach in Ovim, Isuikwuato Local Government Area (LGA) of Abia State, with the Chairman Hon Nnamdi Udueze, traditional rulers of Ovim and adjoining villages as well Ihejirika and his wife Nneka in attendance.
Ihejirika while speaking on behalf of the community expressed appreciation to Buratai for the humanitarian assistance to the community.
“I am increasingly happy with some of the achievements of the Nigerian Army under the current leadership, this kind of medical outreach is remarkable”, he stated.
In his remarks at the occasion, the GOC thanked the people and the leaders of various communities that collectively, and in large numbers, graced the event.
The Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, stressed that “one interesting aspects of the Exercise is the generous donation of rice, dental, optometry services, malaria and deworming tablets, eye glasses, treated mosquito nets to the locals among others.
Musa stated that in addition to deworming tablets, school children were given pockets of biscuits, chewing gum and chocolates.
