The Cohesion, Peace and Development Initiative in Africa (cpdAFRICA), a nonprofit, multicultural, community based and volunteered centered organization dedicated to conflict prevention, conflict management has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to be proactive and decisive in dealing with the incessant killings by Fulani herdsmen in Benue States and some other parts of the country by disarming herdsmen nationwide.

Decrying the spate of unwarranted massacres, the management of cpdAFRICA on Monday, joined many other well-meaning voices in calling on Buhari and the security agencies to address these killings and prevent future occurrence without any ethnic or religious colouration or sentiments given it.

“This organization posits that the herdsmen be disarmed now. A Stich in Time Saves NineThe Cohesion, Peace and Development Initiative in Africa (cpdAFRICA) stands for justice, fairness, national cohesion, peace and development”, said the Executive Director, Uwem Oku.

“The recent carnage perpetrated by the Fulani herdsmen on inhabitants of some communities in Benue State can be best described as not only inhuman, barbaric, outrageous but an affront and heinous crime to the Benue people and to the entire people of Nigeria.

“This is one atrocity too many. The cpdAFRICA condemn this act of inhumanity and senseless destruction of human lives and properties. This unrelenting murderous acts being carried out by the Fulani herdsmen should not be allowed to continue. The sight of the massacred is a gory one and oversteps on all senses of sanity”, he added.

The group, however, commend the security agencies in the country for their sacrifices towards the attainment of peace and security while charging them to strive harder to halt this national threat.
