Operatives of the State Security Service, (SSS) on Tuesday morning barred lawmakers and journalists from gaining access into the National Assembly.
Although the President of the Senate Bukola Saraki and his deputy Ike Ekweremadu had not called for the reconvening of the Senate, the APC senators are bent on reopening the chamber to impeach Mr Saraki for defecting to PDP.
Inside sources revealed that senators and some house of Reps members have forced their way into the National Assembly Complex after they were blocked from entering the area by SSS officials.
It was gathered that the development is part of a move by some senators to impeach the Senate leadership.
Speaking to newsmen, Senator Kabir Ibrahim, said they had to force their way in to forestall any act of illegality.
“I got to the gate five minutes to seven. We discovered that masked SSS men and the Nigeria police have blocked all the entrance. They refused to tell us why, saying it was order from above.
“It’s just to buttress the rumour that APC senators are planning with other security agencies to come in here and impeach the Senate and deputy Senate president.
“But we are in now and waiting for our colleagues. The security agents gave us a condition, they said the building will be open by 9:00 am and that they have a list that contains those (lawmakers) that will be allowed to go in”.
