12 people have been feared killed as armed men on Thursday evening reportedly invade Igarra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo state.

They robbed two banks in the town; Unity Bank and keystone Bank.

The incident was said to have happened around 4.30 pm.

It was gathered that the armed men had first attacked the police station which is about 1.2 kilometres from the banks apparently to demobilize the only means of neutralising their act where they burnt the official vehicle of the newly posted Area Commander and killed a policeman and two detainees in the police station.

Three other persons near the police station were also reportedly killed.
