- Hamas says truce reached with Israel
United Nations has expressed strong concern that the escalating violence in Gaza could lead to war. Nickolay Mladenov, the UN’s special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, said he was “deeply alarmed by the recent escalation of violence between Gaza and Israel, and particularly by … mutiple rockets fired towards communities in southern Israel”.
U.S state department has also stressed that the Gaza situation was ‘very concerning’
Hamas however announced Friday that true has been reached with isreal to end attacks. Hamas official said truce was brokered by Egyptian and UN mediators.
In response, isreal it is yet to confirm truce.
Recent Israeli air strikes which hit more than 140 targets killed 3 people including mother and child and injured several at crystal centres
Isreal said the air strikes were in response to Hamas rockets fired into isreal. According to the Israeli army, several people were wounded.
Palestinians in Gaza are expected to protest in large numbers on Friday following Israeli air strikes and artillery shelling on the besieged strip.
Protests take place every Friday on the border with Israel, with Palestinians calling for their right to return to the homes and land their families were expelled from 70 years ago.
