•As air force pounds terrorist hideouts near Lake Chad
The Nigerian troops in counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency efforts operation have successfully repelled another Boko Haram onslaught in parts of Borno State, North East.
This is coming as the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter jets bombarded the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) locations around the Lake Chad region.
The Nigerian Army in its Facebook post @HQ Nigerian Army on Tuesday, said the troops stopped the terrorists while trying to infiltrate Kukawa Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
“Troops of 157 Strike Force Battalion at about 8p.m today 27 November 2018 repelled some elements of BHTs who attempted to infiltrate Cross in Kukawa LGA of Borno State,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, a freelance journalist with deep knowledge on the counter-terrorism operations, Mr. Ahmad Salkida, twitted @A_salkida that NAF has embarked in one of the fiercest aerial assault on Boko Haram positions till date.
“The #NigerianAirforce embarks on momentous earth shattering airstrike’s on #ISWAP positions in the #LakeChad. Multiple sources in the crisis zone said, the ongoing bombardments has “disoriented fighters.” No news yet on the number and type of casualties.
