The minister of Defence, Mansur Dan-Ali has directed the Chief of the Air Staff, (COAS) Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar to join the Chief of Army Staff Lt. General Tukur Buratai, in the North East to coordinate Nigerian Air Force (NAF) operations.
Mansur Dan-Ali, had on Tuesday directed Buratai, to remain in the North East, in view of the surge in Boko Haram terrorists’ activities in the region.
The Public Relations Officer to the Minister, Colonel Tukur Gusau announced in a statement on Tuesday after The Air Council Meeting.
He stated that “The Air Council under the Chairmanship of the Honourable Minister of Defence sat today and deliberated on general issues concerning the Nigerian Air Force especially its operational roles in support of various operations across the country and welfare of its personnel.”
“Among other things, the Council directs the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar to join the Chief of Army Staff in the North East to coordinate Nigerian Air Force operations. Similarly, the Chief of the Air Staff was also directed to reorganise air operations in support of operations LAFIYA DOLE in the North East and SHARAN DAJI in Zamfara State.
“The Air Council also approved promotion of well deserved senior Air Force officers to their next higher ranks.”
