Top five crimes of the ‘Most Wanted Boko Haram Terrorist’, Umar Abdulmalik–Police

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF)  on Thursday arrested the man it tagged ‘Most Wanted Boko Haram Terrorist’, Umar Abdulmalik and seven of his gang members alleged to be responsible for the Nyanya and Kuje, Abuja bomb blasts in 2015.

To this end, the NPF listed five top crimes committed by the suspected terrorists and his gang members.

The Public Relations Officer (NPF), DCP Jimoh Moshood , said the suspects have confessed to the crime and admitted several other criminal offences they perpetrated.

According Moshood, the Boko Baram kingpin was arrested by IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by DCP Abba Kyari in a location at Ibafo, Lagos while receiving treatment from the bullet wound.

Here are the top five criminal offences of Umar and his gang:

 

Masterminded Nyanya and Kuje bombings

“Umar Abdulmalik one of the most wanted boko haram terrorists, and an explosive expert for the insurgence group, confessed to be leader of Boko Haram Cell in Kogi State and was responsible for many terrorist attacks across the North East, Niger State and the FCT, including the Nyanya and Kuje bombings in 2015” Moshood said.

 

Notorious IED expert, manufacturer

He also alleged that Abdulmalik, who owned an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) factory discovered by the Police in Gaulaka village, near Suleja, Niger State in 2015z,  was responsible for the manufacturing and use of the IED in the bombings.

 

Killing of police officers

Continuing, Moshood also disclosed that the suspects also confessed  to the killings of seven Police Officer in Galadimawa roundabout on 2ndJuly, 2018 and the killings of two other Police Officers around Abaji in June, 2018 and one  Police Officer in Lugbe, Abuja on 4th November, 2018.

 

Jail break in Minna

He said: “Abdulmalik and his gang were also responsible for the attack and jail break at Medium Security Prison, Minna, Niger State, on 3rd June, 2018 where 219 prisoners serving jail terms for capital offences and other crimes escaped from lawful custody.

“Two  Boko Haram members under Umar Abdulmalik in the Medium Security Prison, Minna, Niger State, were rescued by him during the jail break.”

 

Armed robbery and kidnapping

Moshood also  disclosed  that the Boko Haram terrorist gang during interrogation and investigation confessed to several bank robberies in Edo and Ondo States, and other kidnappings, armed robberies and killings in different locations in Kogi and other contiguous States.

According to the statement, the other seven arrested suspects are; Abubakar Bello Sidi 29yrs, Yusuf Abdulazeez 31yrs a.k.a Fine Boy, Suleman Zakariya 24yrs a.k.a cause trouble, Lukman Abdulmalik 25yrs, a.k.a Lampard.

Others are; Haruna Lamidi 25yrs, Abdullahi Mammanjimoh and Mustapha Adenoyi 34yrs.

The  statement added that four Police AK47 Rifles (carted away after killing the Policemen), Six Magazines, 270 rounds of AK47 Ammunition and Two Police walking talking Radio (carted away after killing the Policemen) were recovered from the suspects.

Moshood however informed that Investigation is being intensified to arrest other members of the Boko Haram cell under the control of Umar Abdulmalik and other suspects connected to the crimes the gang have committed.
