The Nigerian Police Force has stated that there was no protest by 2000 policemen deployed to the North east to complement the military in the fight against insurgency.

The police dismissed a video on social media on “about 2000 MOPOL undergoing training for boko haram drop their weapons in protest’’ fake, doctored to mislead the public and cause disaffection.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood in a statement on Wednesday said all personnel have successfully passed out from training and have been deployed more than a week ago to the front line along with the Military.

Part of the statement read, “The attention of the Nigeria Police Force has been drawn to a video on social media platform doctored to create an erroneous impression that “about 2000 MOPOL undergoing training for boko haram drop their weapons in protest”.

“The Force wishes to state that the video was mischievously doctored and circulated to mislead the public. There was no protest by any of the 2000 MOPOL undergoing Special Forces training in the North East.

“The personnel have successfully passed out from training and have been deployed to the front line along with the Military in the three (3) States of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa and are doing well in the operations.

“Members of the public are hereby enjoined to discountenance the video as untrue, mischievous and a fake news.
