President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered investigations into the ugly brawl at the Presidential Villa involving his Personal Assistant, Saibu ‘Tunde’ Yusuf, and the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, resulting to a shooting incident and subsequent arrest of Aisha’s Aide De Camp (ADC).

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday via a tweet by the Special Assistant to the President on Media, Mr. Garba Shehu.

Shehu said: “The Presidency wishes to acknowledge concerns expressed by several members of the public regarding the recent incident among the occupants of the State House which escalation led to the arrest of some staff by the police.

“This is to assure everyone that the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, @MBuhari, is not, and was not at anytime in any form of danger arising, either from deadly infections or the reported incident by security personnel which is currently under investigation.”

Recall that the First Lady reportedly incurred the wrath of the ‘cabal’, a group of powerful and almost untouchable individuals around Buhari, after her ADC and other security details forced her husband’s Personal Assistant, Saibu ‘Tunde’ Yusuf out of Aso Villa on Thursday after he refused to embark on a 14-day isolation period after a trip from Lagos.

But Shehu has clarified that the incident, which he described as “minor, happened outside the main residence of the President.

He also defended the role of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, is within his right to arrest, question and detain any erring officer under his supervision, which in this instance, is the First Lady’s political details, which she did raise the alarm and asked for their release via her Twitter handle.

“Armed guards and other security personnel assigned to the State House receive the necessary training of especially weapons handling and where they come short, their relevant agencies have their rules and regulations to immediately address them,” he said.

According Shehu, having authorized the proper investigation to be carried out into this unfortunate incident by the Police, the President has acted in compliance with the rule of law.

“That a minor occurrence is being used by some critics to justify attacks on the government and the person of President Muhammadu Buhari beggars belief,” he noted.

In this particular instance, he stressed, the President says the law should be allowed to take its course.
