Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered ₦8 million ransom during a coordinated operation in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The military said the operation, conducted by troops deployed in Sector 9 Shendam on April 25, followed days of intelligence gathering after the victim was abducted from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area on April 19.

Security sources disclosed that a breakthrough came after the arrest and interrogation of a suspect who confessed to the crime, leading troops to a hideout in Padam Forest in Qua’an Pan LGA where the victim was being held.

The troops successfully secured the area, rescued the victim unharmed, and recovered the sum of ₦8 million earlier paid by the family as ransom to the kidnappers.

Following the rescue, the victim was taken to a medical facility in Shendam for examination and was later reunited with her family, while the recovered ransom was handed back to her relatives.

Military authorities said the operation highlights ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping networks and enhance security across the joint operations area.

Troops have since intensified follow-up operations across Qua’an Pan and Shendam local government areas to track down other members of the criminal syndicate and destroy their hideouts.

The military also commended residents for their cooperation and urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security operations.
