The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, Lagos, has rewarded outstanding residential blocks in its Second Quarter Inter Block Competition, reinforcing its drive to promote a clean, orderly and conducive environment for personnel undergoing training.
The awards were presented on Wednesday by the Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, at the Centre’s Parade Ground as part of measures to strengthen environmental sanitation, facility maintenance, discipline and collective responsibility among personnel.
The competition, which involved more than 40 residential blocks, was designed to encourage healthy rivalry while improving the standard of accommodation and environmental management across the Centre.
The Director of Administration, Air Commodore SU Bello, said the inspection committee conducted the assessment on July 31, 2026, following a pre inspection briefing held on July 29.
Bello explained that the assessment focused on the cleanliness, maintenance and structural condition of residential accommodation, environmental management and innovative value added projects undertaken by participating blocks.
He said the results were based on observations collated by members of the inspection committee through an objective assessment of the established standards. He commended personnel for their commitment, saying the exercise had demonstrated that excellence could be achieved through discipline, teamwork and consistency.
At the end of the competition, Corporal and Below Quarters Block S emerged overall winner and received a cash prize of N1 million. CBQ Block T came second with N600,000, while Brigadier General AO James Block placed third and received N400,000.
Ilo congratulated the winning blocks and urged them to sustain the standards that earned them recognition. He also challenged other residential blocks to intensify their efforts and use the competition as an opportunity to improve ahead of the next assessment.
The Commandant described the prizes as a deserved reward for diligence and commitment, urging the winners to serve as examples to other personnel. The presentation generated excitement as representatives of the successful blocks received their awards.
The initiative reflects Ilo’s command philosophy of creating a formidable training environment, improving personnel welfare and sustaining infrastructure development in line with global best practices. It also underscores the Centre’s commitment to rewarding diligence while fostering a culture of cleanliness, discipline, teamwork and excellence.
