Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have rescued two kidnapped victims in separate operations across Plateau State as security forces intensify efforts to disrupt criminal activities and deny terrorists freedom of action in the state.
The latest operations, conducted in Bassa and Kanam Local Government Areas, followed credible intelligence and routine fighting patrols by troops deployed across the Joint Operations Area.
In Bassa Local Government Area, troops of Sector 3 on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, launched a search and rescue operation following information on the abduction of Mr Ndubuisi Onuigbo. The operation resulted in the successful rescue of the victim.
Similarly, in the early hours of Wednesday, August 26, troops of Sector 2 deployed at Kukawa village in Kanam Local Government Area encountered suspected terrorists during a fighting patrol.
The troops engaged the fleeing terrorists in an aggressive pursuit, forcing them to abandon a kidnapped victim, Mallam Sambo Abdullahi, who was subsequently rescued by the security forces.
The two rescued victims were debriefed by the troops and later reunited with their families, according to the operation authorities.
Commander of Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Maxwell Dangana, commended the troops for their professionalism and decisive response in disrupting criminal activities and protecting residents across the state.
Dangana also called on residents to remain calm and vigilant while urging continued cooperation with security forces through the provision of credible information to enable the troops to effectively restore lasting peace and security in the area.
