Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police, have rescued three kidnapped victims following a swift response to a distress call along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Katsina State.
The operation was carried out on Thursday after residents alerted security forces to the presence of suspected terrorists operating along the busy road in Dandume Local Government Area.
Acting on the information, the troops and police personnel promptly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists in a gun battle.
The security forces overpowered the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their victims and flee into the surrounding bush.
A subsequent search of the area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims, while two vehicles reportedly used by the terrorists were also recovered by the troops.
The rescued victims and recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume, for further necessary action.
Following the operation, troops intensified patrols and surveillance along the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping and deny them freedom of action within the Joint Operations Area.
The Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said the successful operation demonstrated the troops’ determination to protect the lives and property of law-abiding citizens.
Danja commended residents for providing timely information that enabled the security forces to respond swiftly, urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest security outpost.
