The Nigerian Army has refuted allegations made by dismissed ex-Lance Corporal Rotimi Olamilekan, popularly known as “Soja Boi,” describing them as misleading and unfounded.

In a statement issued by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army said the claims circulating across social media and some mainstream platforms misrepresent issues relating to personnel welfare, remuneration, and provision of operational equipment.

The Army clarified that Olamilekan was not dismissed for expressing opinions but for repeated acts of indiscipline, including violations of the Armed Forces Social Media Policy.

It noted that his actions, such as unauthorised media engagements, commercialisation of military identity, and misuse of uniform, contravened established military regulations and that due process was followed in his dismissal.

On remuneration, the Army explained that it operates a structured salary system based on rank and years of service, as outlined in the Manual of Financial Administration for Armed Forces of Nigeria.

It added that personnel receive additional benefits, including uniform allowances and other entitlements, which are paid directly into their accounts.

The statement further noted that troops deployed for operations are entitled to allowances such as Ration Cash Allowance and other mission specific incentives aimed at supporting their welfare.

Addressing claims on equipment, the Army described as false assertions that soldiers purchase uniforms or protective gear, stressing that these are provided through established logistics systems.

It maintained that no soldier is deployed without necessary protective equipment, noting that contrary claims are misleading and capable of undermining troops morale and public confidence.

The Army urged the public and media to disregard the allegations, verify information from credible sources, and continue supporting security agencies in their efforts to safeguard the nation.
