Benue Government, led by Governor Hyacinth Alia, has approached the Federal Government for support through the Natural Resources Development Fund (NRDF) to drive economic growth and development in the state.

This move is part of the state’s 10-year Strategic Development Plan, which focuses on seven key development pillars.

Governor Alia emphasized the importance of strategic investment in solid minerals, agriculture, and infrastructure to transform Benue into an economic hub.

Alia stated that, “Prosperity is never automatic; it must be built deliberately, strategically, and inclusively.”

The state’s submission to the NRDF aims to achieve key outcomes, including economic diversification, increased internally generated revenue, attraction of foreign direct investment, and export-oriented value chains.

The Benue State Government has presented several projects for NRDF consideration, including initiatives in mineral resource development, agribusiness innovation, tourism revitalization, and critical infrastructure upgrades.

Governor Alia emphasized the importance of partnership with federal institutions and development agencies in driving Benue’s transformation agenda.

He said, “We know we cannot do this alone. That is why this collaboration is so important.”

“This is not just a funding request; it’s a blueprint for wealth creation, j generation, and inclusive growth.”

The event was attended by top officials from the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), members of the Benue State Executive Council, development experts, and traditional leaders.
