In a swift response to rumours making its round in some media, the Government of Benue State has debunked claims that Governor Hyacinth Alia is planning to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The state government described the publication as “fake news” and a product of “yellow journalism,” urging the public to disregard the false report.
A statement, issued on Sunday by Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, emphasized that Governor Alia remains a committed and loyal member of the APC and has no plans whatsoever to defect from the party.

“At a time when opposition Governors are joining the APC due to the party’s progressive policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it is laughable to suggest that Governor Alia would abandon the very party he leads and sponsors in Benue,” the statement read.
“Governor Alia has been actively involved in the party’s activities both at state and national levels. He recently endorsed President Tinubu as the sole APC candidate ahead of the 2027 general elections and attended high-profile APC events, including the zonal endorsement meeting and the national summit at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.”
The press statement also dispelled rumors of a leadership crisis within the APC in Benue State.
Kula noted that the party, under the chairmanship of Hon. Benjamin Omale, enjoys a strong working relationship with the Governor and has been functioning effectively.

“It is appalling how any medium would fabricate lies to create public doubt, especially when Governor Alia’s presence at the events in question was covered by national media,” Kula stated.
The government urged the public to seek credible sources for information and to reject politically motivated fake news. Governor Alia remains focused on delivering quality governance to the people of Benue State under the APC platform.
