The Nigeria Police Force has honoured the sacrifices of its fallen officers with the disbursement of ₦184,889,087 to families of personnel who died in active service.

The cheques were presented at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, by the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, represented by Sulaiman M. Abdul, as part of activities marking the National Police Day celebration.

Sixteen beneficiaries and next of kin received the financial support under the Group Life Assurance Scheme, reflecting the Force’s commitment to the welfare of officers and their families.

The ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the risks undertaken daily by police personnel, many of whom make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

In his remarks, the IGP paid tribute to both serving and retired officers, acknowledging their dedication and the enduring impact of their service on national security.

He noted that the burden of sacrifice is often shared by families, who bear the loss and continue life without their loved ones.

While emphasizing that no amount of money can replace the lives lost, the police chief said the initiative is aimed at providing support and reassurance to those left behind.

He assured that the Force remains committed to prioritising the welfare of its personnel, including those injured while on duty.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated that the sacrifices of its officers will continue to be recognised and honoured through sustained welfare initiatives.

The event further reinforced the Force’s resolve to stand by its personnel and their families, both in service and beyond.
