Coalition of Civil Society for Public Service Reform(CCSPSR), has commended the President Bola Tinubu and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike for the implementation and actualisation of the FCT Civil Service Act 2018.
The coalition gave the commendation during a rally on Monday, at the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) headquarters, Abuja.
Convener of the rally, Comrade Opeyemi Ismail, expressed satisfaction over the decision on implementation, noting this have been long overdue.
Ismail said, “We are here to appreciates the President Bola Tinubu and the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for championing the civil service act.
“We congratulates every public servant in the FCT for this renewed hope, in giving them the opportunity to rise to the peak of their career in the civil service.
“We the families of FCT civil servants are here to pledge our support and advice them to shun any form of pressure,” he stated.
The FCT civil service act 2018 establishes the FCT civil service commission charged with the responsibility for appointment, promotion, discipline and transfer of civil servants within the civil service of the FCT.
Wike, made the announcement for the implementation of the act on Monday, March 4, 2024. Also announcing the establishment of a Civil Service Commission for the territory.
During the meeting with the Directors of the FCTA and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), the Minister said the commission will appoint nine permanent secretaries to oversee the Secretariat.
The Secretariat are Agriculture and Rural Development, Transport and Economic Planning, Revenue Generation and Public Private Partnership.
He said senior directors in the FCTA would be appointed as permanent secretaries for the Secretariat.
