The Defence Headquarters has announced increased surveillance operations across the country ahead of the Easter celebrations, as part of efforts to ensure a safe and peaceful festive period.
This was disclosed during the Defence Media Operations Monthly briefing, where the military highlighted measures being implemented to address potential security concerns associated with heightened movement and public gatherings.
According to the DHQ, security agencies have intensified intelligence gathering, patrols, and strategic deployments in key locations nationwide to forestall any threats.
The military noted that the enhanced surveillance is a proactive step to consolidate the relative peace being experienced in several parts of the country.
It reassured Nigerians of its readiness to respond swiftly to any security challenge, emphasizing that personnel have been placed on high alert before, during, and after the Easter period.
The Defence Headquarters also called on citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a hitch free celebration.
It urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious movements or activities, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, assuring Nigerians of continuous efforts to maintain peace and stability nationwide.
