The Anambra State Police Command has stepped up security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination across the state.
As part of the measures, the Command deployed sixty Safe School operatives to various examination centres to maintain order and ensure the safety of candidates and officials.
The examination, organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, is scheduled to hold from April 15 to April 26, 2026.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, the deployment is a preventive strategy to forestall any security threats.
The officers are drawn from different formations and have been distributed across centres under the supervision of eight Area Commands in the state.
Coordination of the operation is being handled by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Harrison Oruruo, to ensure effective monitoring.
Police authorities said the initiative aligns with the Safe School framework aimed at protecting educational institutions and activities.
They added that the presence of operatives would discourage examination malpractice, crowd disorder, and other potential disruptions.
The Command called on candidates and stakeholders to cooperate with security personnel and adhere strictly to examination guidelines.
It also reassured residents of its readiness to sustain law and order throughout the examination period, emphasizing its commitment to a peaceful and hitch free exercise.
