President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said infrastructure development must reach communities where Nigerians live and work, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving living standards through the Renewed Hope Agenda. Vice President Kashim Shettima stated this while commissioning the rehabilitated and expanded Karu Interchange–Nyanya Junction Road and adjoining roads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Representing the President, Shettima said the project would reduce gridlock, shorten travel time and stimulate economic activities along the Karu corridor. He said it was “a clear testament to our promise to reduce congestion and improve the living standards of our people.”

He added that solar-powered streetlights installed along the road would improve security and road safety, while urging residents to protect the infrastructure from vandalism and indiscriminate waste disposal.

The Vice President also commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for driving infrastructure renewal across Abuja, particularly in satellite communities. He praised Abdul Val Nigeria Limited for delivering the project within schedule.

Speaking earlier, Wike thanked Tinubu for his unwavering support for the FCT Administration, noting that the Vice President had represented the President at several project commissioning ceremonies over the past 14 days.

He said the project was expanded beyond its original design to include the Customs Road, EFCC Headquarters Road and other adjoining routes, describing the intervention as a major boost to the Karu district.

The minister commended Abdul Val Nigeria Limited for proving the capacity of indigenous contractors to execute major projects. He stressed that “Government is a continuum,” adding that inherited projects would be completed regardless of who initiated them.

Wike said the completed road had opened up Karu for new investments, improved access and increased property values, assuring residents that infrastructure development would extend to every district in the FCT.

In her vote of thanks, FCT Head of Service Nancy Sabanti Nathan described the project as another milestone under the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it would ease transportation and strengthen economic activities in Karu and surrounding communities.

Nathan thanked President Tinubu, the National Assembly, Wike, Abdul Val Nigeria Limited and other stakeholders for delivering the project, urging residents to protect public infrastructure and support the FCT Administration’s urban renewal programme.
