The Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) Lagos Directorate of Muslim Affairs has urged Muslims in Lagos to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2027 general election, describing voter mobilisation as critical to democratic participation.
The appeal was made during a courtesy and sensitisation visit to the headquarters of the Nasrul-Lahi-l-Fatih Society (NASFAT) in Lagos on Sunday, under the leadership of the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor and Ambassador of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors Lagos State, Mr. Tayo Ayinde.
The delegation was led by the Director of RHA Directorate of Muslim Affairs, Alhaji Waheed Tella, and received by the Chief Missioner of NASFAT, Sheikh Abdul-Azeez Onike, alongside the society’s Vice President and members of its executive council.
Tella said the visit was aimed at encouraging Muslims to participate actively in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 polls.
He urged eligible Nigerians to register, obtain their PVCs and vote, saying, “If Muslims come out in mass with their Permanent Voter Cards, we will decisively determine the outcome of the elections.”
According to him, Lagos has an estimated population of over 25 million, with about 15 million Muslims, making the voting population significant.
He added that the mobilisation campaign is in support of the APC presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the party’s Lagos State governorship candidate, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat.
Responding, Sheikh Abdul-Azeez Onike commended the delegation for promoting civic participation and peaceful engagement ahead of the elections.
He assured the visitors of NASFAT’s support for initiatives that encourage peace, responsible citizenship and voter participation.
The visit ended with prayers for peaceful, free and credible elections, as well as sustained peace, economic growth and political stability in Lagos State and across Nigeria.
