Godsgift Onyedinefu
On January 28th 2022, an article titled “Foolish is Not Igbo ” surfaced on some news online platforms and was attributed to former Chief of Army Staff, General Azubuike Ihejirika (rtd). The article criticised activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), purported marginalisation in the southeast, issues around the Igbo presidency among others.
However, General Ihejirika has since distanced himself from the article saying he never wrote the article, though some of the online sites that published it such as Sahara Reporters claim that it was on the General’s Facebook wall.
VERIFICATION
A thorough check of General Ihejirika’s official Facebook page did not find such an article on his wall. Also, a keyword internet search could not credibly link the article directly to General Ihejirika.
It however provided search results of a famous writer known as Chibuike Ihejirika who had authored an article with the same title but different content. Meanwhile, nearly all the online platforms that published the article attributed to General Ihejirika have deleted it.
VERDICT
There is no evidence that General Ihejirika wrote the article “Foolish is another Igbo “
