Showing love and compassion for humanity does not have to be expensive or when we have in abundance; it should be a way of life to share with the less privileged in society. It is these little acts of kindness that make the world a better place.
Accordingly, this life ethos has been the guiding principle of Ms. Ayanda Ngwane, a renowned journalist, media entrepreneur, geopolitics enthusiast, and humanitarian. Against all odds, she has sustained a philanthropic lifestyle using her resources, influence, and contacts to touch and inspire the lives of the less privileged in society. This she has accomplished through various platforms, particularly as the Founder of Global Assist Foundation (GAF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).
It is, therefore, no surprise that April 19th of every year, being her birthday, is utilised as an occasion and opportunity to extend her milk of human kindness. This year, April 19, 2024, is no different as Ngwane has set her sights on amelioration of the condition of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Nigeria and underprivileged children in South Africa. Through GAF and in partnership with the Embassy of South Africa in Nigeria, Ms. Ngwane will donate a mobile library to the New Kuchingoro IDP Camp in Abuja, Nigeria, and Ga’Rankuwa Camp in Pretoria, South Africa.
In addition, her foundation also facilitates all types of skills acquisition and education training for vulnerable groups and communities, especially the youths, women, and girls.
Speaking to Global Sentinel, she said: “My foundation has been running fully since 2017, with a Shelter in Johannesburg. The main focus is to rescue, educate, and empower kids who have been made homeless by different circumstances, be they refugees, from abused homes, internally displaced, or abandoned.
“Our mission is to rehabilitate them and offer different types of skills and education so they can be part of us and fit into society; it’s all about giving hope and rescuing an African Child. In Nigeria, we will donate the mobile library to the New Kuchingoro IDP Camp, Abuja.”
Ngwane has chosen a commendable way of marking one’s birthday with a humanitarian touch. Happy birthday Yaya of Africa.
