France and African leaders are set to deepen discussions on investment, artificial intelligence, peace, security and cultural cooperation at the upcoming Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi.

Speaking during a virtual press briefing from the Élysée Palace, French officials said the summit, jointly hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, would bring together about 30 African Heads of State, business leaders, financial institutions, entrepreneurs and youth representatives.

According to the officials, the summit will focus on boosting investments in African economies, promoting African culture and expanding partnerships in media, entertainment and content creation across the continent.

Artificial intelligence and digital transformation are also expected to dominate discussions, particularly during a youth dialogue session involving about 500 young African leaders, innovators and creatives.

French authorities further highlighted ongoing efforts toward the restitution of African cultural artefacts taken during the colonial era, noting that reforms introduced by France have enabled African countries to seek the return of illegally acquired artefacts.

The summit will also feature discussions on peace and security, agriculture, rural development and sustainable financing for African economies, with participation from institutions including the International Monetary Fund, African Development Bank and World Bank.

Organisers said the event aims to strengthen cooperation between Africa and France while amplifying African innovation, creativity and leadership on the global stage.
