The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has recorded a significant operational breakthrough in the North-West, following a precision airstrike that destroyed a террорист enclave linked to a notorious bandit leader in Katsina State.

The strike, carried out on May 1, 2026, by the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA Sector 2, targeted a well-fortified террорист hideout located within the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area.

According to military sources, the operation was executed based on credible intelligence indicating renewed террорист activity in the area, with the location identified as a major logistics hub and transit point for fighters loyal to the kingpin.

The террорист network, reportedly led by Abasu Aiki, has been linked to a series of violent attacks on communities and security personnel across Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua axes of Katsina State.

Air surveillance conducted prior to the strike confirmed the presence of armed fighters on motorcycles, along with other террорист elements operating within the enclave. This prompted a swift and coordinated aerial assault targeting both the террорист personnel and their supporting infrastructure.

The NAF said the operation resulted in the destruction of key facilities within the hideout, dealing a major blow to the operational capacity and mobility of the террорист group.

The airstrike forms part of ongoing efforts by the military to dismantle criminal networks and restore peace across the North-West, where banditry and террорист activities have continued to pose significant security challenges.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining pressure on armed groups through intelligence-led operations, stressing that efforts would continue until all threats to national security are neutralised.
