The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has inaugurated a four-month Air-to-Ground Integration (AGI) Course aimed at strengthening joint military operations and improving coordination across the Armed Forces.

The training, organised by the Air Warfare and Doctrine Centre (AWDC), commenced on April 22, 2026, at the 101 Air Defence Group in Makurdi, bringing together personnel from the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The initiative aligns with the command philosophy of the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, which prioritises inter-service cooperation, joint doctrine development, and coordinated military operations.

Speaking at the inauguration, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, MC Ekwueme, described air-to-ground integration as a critical element in modern warfare. He noted that effective coordination between air and land forces is essential for mission success, particularly in joint task force operations.

Ekwueme expressed confidence that participants would acquire the skills needed to enhance operational planning, execution, and precision, adding that graduates are expected to serve as force multipliers in complex security environments.

Earlier, the Commandant of AWDC, Garba Ibrahim Jibia, said the course was designed to deepen interoperability among the services. He stressed that modern battlefields demand seamless collaboration between air and ground components.

According to him, the programme will focus on intelligence-driven targeting, close air support, and real-time battlefield coordination, while fostering a shared operational mindset among participants.

The course is part of ongoing efforts by the NAF to strengthen joint warfighting capacity and enhance the effectiveness of counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations across the country.
