The Forum of the 36 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Chairmen and the FCT has reaffirmed its support for the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Alhaji Abdulrahman Mohammed and Senator Samuel Anyanwu, insisting it remains the only leadership recognised by INEC and the courts. “There is only one PDP recognised by INEC and by the courts,” the forum declared.
Addressing journalists in Abuja, Chairman of the PDP State Chairmen Forum and Imo State PDP Chairman, Hon. Austine Nwachukwu, said the position was unanimously adopted by the 36 state chairmen and the FCT to safeguard the party’s unity and stability.
He accused a group led by Tanimu Turaki of misleading Nigerians and impersonating party officials, describing its actions as “a deliberate campaign of falsehood, impersonation and lawlessness.”
The forum maintained that the group’s claims contradict existing court judgments and the legally recognised leadership of the PDP.
It also appealed to former President Goodluck Jonathan not to allow his name to be used in what it described as attempts to legitimise the faction, saying he deserved respect as a national leader.
The chairmen further called on FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to investigate the alleged use of a two-storey building on Owo Close, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, for the activities of the group.
The forum said the PDP had successfully concluded the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms and conducted peaceful governorship and State House of Assembly primaries nationwide.
It also welcomed the emergence of Senator Sandy Onor as the party’s presidential candidate alongside other candidates for the 2027 general election.
Nwachukwu urged members to remain united, stressing that the forum would continue to defend the rule of law and the integrity of the PDP despite the ongoing leadership dispute.
