The Sundiata Post Intelligence Unit (SPIU) has renamed its flagship research framework from “Trinity of State Decay” to “Trinity of Sovereignty Decay”, while retaining the acronym TSD.
The theory, developed by SPIU Lead Researcher and Sundiata Post CEO, Max Nwabueze Amuchie, examines state fragility in the Global South, focusing on the disconnect between formal state authority and actual control at the sub-national level.
According to SPIU, the name change reflects the framework’s central argument that sovereignty fragmentation, rather than institutional failure alone, is key to understanding state weakness.
The theory identifies two resulting formations the Institutional Mirage and the Shadow Order driven by what it describes as the Money-Land-Mind dynamic.
Amuchie said the adjustment was made to align the title of the theory with its core concept, noting that the focus is on the decay of sovereignty rather than the state itself.
The renamed framework will continue to support the Decoupling Sovereignty Index (DSI), a tool designed to measure sovereignty challenges across different zones.
The change takes effect ahead of the theory’s submission for academic peer review, while earlier references under the former title remain part of its development history.
