In an effort to combat environmental degradation and promote earth protection Transcorp Hilton Abuja on Wednesday embarked on a sensitization programme in Model primary school Abuja
The program aimed at educating the students in ways they can protect the planet especially in the wake of climate change, Ijeoma Osuji, E-Commerce Manager Abuja, noted.
The pupils were engaged in a tree planting exercise where they planted 20 flowers to provide beautification and protection to the environment.
“ We have discovered that most kids don’t know the essence of tree planting in the environment hence they keep destroying planted trees; so we decided to come educate them on the importance of trees to their environment and the planet at large,” Osuji explained.
The pupils were taught on how to volunteer for clean up in the environment, water conservation, how to reduce reuse cycle, reduction of chemicals into water ways, and making smart sea food choices.
They were also enlightened on the importance of education and how it affects the environment
Transcorp Hilton Abuja carried out the program in collaboration with its TwP partner ACE Charity in commemoration of the Earth month
“on Saturday 25th March 2023, we will be joining Hilton properties and millions of people across the globe to celebrate Earth Hour and to take one iconic action: Switch off the lights; to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and make a difference in the fight against climate change,”Osuji noted.
