Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has said continuity in government would help sustain ongoing programmes, as a Darika Islamic group in the state endorsed his second-term bid and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The endorsement was announced during a special prayer programme held in Katsina and organised by the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation and the Maituraka Foundation.
The group, led by Sheikh Muhammad Nasir of the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, comprises members from the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Islamic group declared its support for the two leaders ahead of the 2027 elections and urged its members to participate in the electoral process.
Radda, while acknowledging the endorsement, said continued cooperation between the government and communities would be important to the implementation of development programmes.
The governor also called on residents to support efforts to tackle insecurity by remaining vigilant and sharing useful information with security agencies.
Sheikh Nasir highlighted government initiatives in areas including Islamic education, youth development and empowerment, while encouraging beneficiaries to use available opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
The Chairman of the Maituraka Foundation, Abdulaziz Maituraka, reaffirmed the foundation’s support for the Katsina State Government and the APC.
The programme also featured prayers for Nigeria’s leaders and for an end to insecurity, while organisers provided empowerment support to 500 women to enable them to start or expand small businesses.
The endorsement adds to recent political activities in Katsina ahead of the 2027 elections, with supporters of the APC using community and religious gatherings to mobilise support for the party and its candidates.
