President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to depart Abuja today on a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye, aimed at strengthening diplomatic, economic and strategic relations between both countries.
The visit is part of Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to deepen international partnerships and expand cooperation with key global allies.
According to a statement by the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, the visit is designed to build on the longstanding cordial relationship between Nigeria and Türkiye.
Onanuga noted that President Tinubu’s engagements will focus on expanding collaboration in critical sectors that support national development.
Key areas of discussion during the visit include security, education, social development, innovation and aviation.
The talks are expected to explore new opportunities for mutual growth while reinforcing existing bilateral frameworks.
The statement recalled that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Nigeria in October 2021 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
That visit, according to the presidency, laid a solid foundation for enhanced cooperation between the two countries.
President Tinubu’s visit will also feature high-level political and diplomatic engagements covering finance, communications, trade and investment.
The agenda includes the signing of several memoranda of understanding in areas such as scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military cooperation and protocol.
