The Nigeria Police Force and the Chinese diplomatic mission have moved to strengthen intelligence sharing as part of efforts to enhance security and protect lives and investments in Lagos and Ogun states.

This was the focus of a courtesy visit by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Yan Yuging, to the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, at the zonal headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.

During the visit, the Consul General emphasised the importance of strengthening intelligence collaboration between both parties to effectively tackle emerging security threats.

She noted that timely information sharing would play a critical role in safeguarding Chinese nationals and securing business investments across the region.

Yan Yuging also highlighted that 2026 marks 55 years of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China, describing the milestone as an opportunity to deepen cooperation in security and intelligence exchange.

She expressed confidence that enhanced collaboration with the police would improve response strategies and crime prevention efforts in Lagos and Ogun states.

In his remarks, AIG Jimoh welcomed the initiative, stressing that intelligence sharing remains a vital tool in modern policing and crime prevention.

He assured the Consul General of the Zone 2 Command’s readiness to work closely with the Chinese mission and other stakeholders to strengthen intelligence networks.

The AIG further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents, noting that improved intelligence coordination would enhance operational effectiveness.

The development, according to a statement by DSP Afolayan Gbenga, underscores the growing partnership between Nigeria and China in addressing security challenges through proactive information exchange.
