Colombia have secured qualification for the World Cup knockout stage after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over DR Congo on Tuesday.
The Group K encounter in Guadalajara was settled by a 76th-minute goal from Daniel Muñoz.
The result moved Colombia to the top of the group with six points, two ahead of Portugal heading into the final round of matches.
Portugal earlier strengthened their position with a dominant 5-0 win over Uzbekistan in Houston, a game in which Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice.
Colombia started strongly and controlled large spells of the first half, putting the Congolese defence under sustained pressure.
DR Congo goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi made several important saves, including stops to deny Johan Mojica and Luis Díaz.
The African side gradually grew into the game after weathering early pressure and created a few openings of their own.
The decisive moment came when Muñoz’s effort took a deflection that wrong-footed Mpasi and found the net.
DR Congo pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, forcing a late save from Colombian goalkeeper Camilo Vargas.
Colombia will now face Portugal in their final group match, while DR Congo take on Uzbekistan as they continue their first World Cup appearance since 1974.
