Another batch of Nigerian returnees from South Africa has arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

The returnees landed at about 8:50 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Their arrival was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM).

NiDCOM said the evacuation exercise was approved by President Bola Tinubu describing the operation as part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of Nigerians abroad.

The latest arrivals form part of phased evacuation exercises from South Africa. The first batch of 258 returnees arrived on June 11, 2026. They were brought back via a chartered Air Peace flight.

A second batch of 66 returnees was earlier facilitated through Value Jet. The airline operation was supported by its Chairman and CEO, Otunba Kunle Soname.

Officials of the Nigerian High Commission in South Africa accompanied the returnees. On arrival in Lagos, government agencies were on ground to receive and document them.

These included NiDCOM, the National Emergency Management Agency, the Nigeria Immigration Service, FAAN, and the Refugee Commission.

As part of reintegration support, Imo State indigenes among the returnees received ₦1,000,000 each, courtesy of Governor Hope Uzodinma.

MTN Nigeria also provided free SIM packs with data worth ₦50,000 and an additional ₦100,000 credit to each returnee.

Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvesters International Christian Centre donated ₦100,000 to each returnee.

The returnees expressed appreciation to President Tinubu and all partners for the evacuation and support packages provided.
