The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has carried out a series of precision airstrikes targeting terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains, destroying key structures and logistics hubs used by insurgents in the North-East.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to defence correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to the statement, the sustained counter-terrorism operations have significantly weakened the operational capacity of terrorist elements, limiting their ability to launch attacks against civilian populations and security forces in the region.
The Air Force explained that the strikes were executed following credible intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which identified multiple terrorist structures and logistics hubs actively supporting insurgent activities within the mountainous terrain.
“Employing precision targeting and strict adherence to rules of engagement, NAF platforms engaged and neutralised hostile elements and their infrastructure with lethal accuracy, while maintaining due regard for the protection of civilians and the surrounding environment,” the statement said.
The Service noted that the operation led to the destruction of critical terrorist infrastructure, further degrading the group’s fighting capability and disrupting its logistics network.
NAF reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive air operations in coordination with ground forces, stressing that ongoing efforts are aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and restoring lasting peace and security across affected areas.
