The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved its 2027 general election timetable, marking the start of nationwide primaries and signalling a return to stability after internal disputes.

The decision was taken at the party’s 108th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held Monday at its National Secretariat in Abuja, where it declared that “the era of uncertainty is over.”

In a communiqué signed by National Publicity Secretary, Haruna Mohammed Jungudo, the party affirmed it remains “a strong, united and formidable political party,” dismissing claims of disunity.

Jungudo said details of the timetable would be unveiled by the National Working Committee (NWC) after completing administrative processes.

The NEC expressed confidence in the newly elected NWC led by National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed, and called for reconciliation among aggrieved members.

It urged members to resolve disputes through dialogue and respect for party structures, stressing unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party approved guidelines for primaries, including timelines for Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, and directed strict compliance for transparency.

It also emphasised adherence to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regulations, particularly on membership registers, primaries and dispute resolution.

NEC endorsed electronic membership registration to strengthen its database, boost grassroots participation and improve transparency.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, reaffirmed loyalty to the PDP, while Abdulrahman Mohammed said the party has overcome its leadership crisis and is now focused on electoral preparation.
