The Embassy of Spain is advancing cultural diplomacy between Spain and Nigeria through the arts, with a special performance by acclaimed Spanish flamenco artist, Niño de Elche, scheduled for Abuja on July 17.

The embassy said the initiative is designed to deepen cultural exchange, strengthen bilateral relations and create new opportunities for artistic collaboration between both countries.

According to the embassy, the concert seeks to “strengthen international bonds between Spain and Nigeria, opening pathways for meaningful artistic dialogue and sparking new creative opportunities.”

It said the programme builds on the success of previous cultural events organised to promote artistic engagement between Spain and Nigeria.

The embassy described Niño de Elche as one of Spain’s leading contemporary flamenco artists, recognised for blending traditional flamenco with electronic music, poetry and experimental sounds.

It said the performance will offer audiences the opportunity to experience the artist’s distinctive style and innovative interpretation of flamenco.

The embassy noted that culture remains “one of the most powerful channels to connect nations, enrich local identities, and drive the success of our artists abroad.”

It called on members of the public, the media and stakeholders in the creative industry to support the event and promote cultural collaboration.

The concert will hold on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at the Conference Hall of the National Universities Commission (NUC), 26 Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama, Abuja.

The embassy expressed confidence that the event will further strengthen cultural ties between Spain and Nigeria while encouraging greater collaboration between artists from both countries.
