Troops of the Nigerian Army, in a joint operation with operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), have arrested a suspected member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), in Enugu State.

Security sources said the operation was carried out on April 25 at about 6:20 p.m. by troops of the 82 Division Garrison, alongside personnel of the 103 Battalion and 197 Special Forces Battalion.

The joint team reportedly stormed Obinofia Ndiagu village during the raid, where one suspected operative linked to IPOB/ESN activities was apprehended without resistance.

Items recovered from the suspect include three mobile phones believed to contain information relevant to ongoing investigations.

The suspect and the recovered exhibits have since been handed over to the 82 Military Intelligence Brigade, where further interrogation and necessary actions are ongoing.

Sources noted that the operation forms part of sustained efforts by security agencies to dismantle criminal networks operating in the South-East region.

Authorities say intelligence-driven raids and coordinated operations will continue as part of measures to restore peace and stability across affected communities.

Residents have also been urged to support security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing efforts to curb violent activities in the region.
